Imagine that some people were reading the Declaration of Independence, and they don’t know the first thing about cursive. They need to know how to read cursive to understand the Declaration of Independence, and they need to know how to write cursive to take notes from the Declaration of Independence. In my opinion, cursive should still be taught in schools today. First, cursive writing should still be taught because of your signature. Next, cursive writing should still be taught because cursive promotes focus. Lastly, cursive writing should still be taught because cursive grants children and adults fine motor skills. Fine motor skills allow you to have better handwriting and they also allow you to play instruments like the guitar and the piano. Cursive also improves thinking skills. Even though 41 states no longer practice cursive writing, people’s fingers still will work the same way if anyone do not work on cursive. If people do work on cursive, their fingers will work more efficiently. Once, cursive writing was a good way to show your self-expression when you write. Studies show that if students practice cursive for just 10 minutes a day, 3 days a week, then they will have mastered cursive in a matter of 3 to 4 months. In conclusion, cursive writing has affected us a lot, and we need to keep cursive around. In my opinion, cursive writing should still be taught in schools today. First, cursive writing should still be taught because of your signature. Next, cursive writing should still be taught because cursive promotes focus. Lastly, cursive writing should still be taught because cursive grants children and adults fine motor skills.
