For a long time, schools have only taught Darwinism in a science setting; but in recent years, the topic of Creationism, and whether or not it should be taught in schools, has been discussed in school board meetings. The problem is, however, that people believe there is no sound argument to disclose that Creationism, or Intelligent Design, is a legitimate science. Therefore, the debate on whether to teach Intelligent Design, along with Darwinism, is a poorly fought battle due to overwhelming evidence in favor of Darwinism. The first concern that sheds doubt on Creationism is its validity or lack thereof. The basis of Creationism doesn’t have any scientific facts to affirm it, which causes scholars like Akudo Ejelonu to articulate “creation by God or another divinity does not give concrete scientific explanation of life’s origin” (1). Firm believers of Creationism wish the subject be taught since they think it to be a viable explanation of how species progress over time and how they first came to surface on earth; but the issue that comes up is the lack of evidence for their claim. In fact, Frederick Edwords, in a scientific journal titled Why Creationism Should Not Be Taught As Science, expresses that “ . . . there is simply no serious ground for holding Creationism to be true,” and continues by saying “The …show more content…
