Should Comprehensive Sex Education Be Taught In Schools

Evaluation of comprehensive sex education programs shows that these programs can help youth delay onset of sexual activity, reduce sexual activities and partners and increase condoms and contraceptive use. The health and future of every adolescent is shadowed by risk of STIs and unplanned pregnancies. With that said, I do believe that comprehensive sex should be taught in schools. The lack of knowledge and its importance about sex should be taught. The fact that it lowers the risk of getting STIs and STDs is very important and the fact that it lowers the pregnancy rate is another reason I feel it should be taught. I feel that school should be a great place to teach the learning of sex, since that’s where we go to learn the basics of life: math, reading, writing, English, biology, etc. Lots of children don’t have the parents or guardians that will interact about the learning of sex with them. The teachers would give the students proper, complete, accurate, and age appropriate that helps reduce the risks of STIs/STDs, HIV/AIDS, and unplanned pregnancies. I think it should be taught in middle school at some point, because when students get to high school they are going through changes with their bodies and peer pressure. They are also noticing the opposite sex. Some parents feel that birth control and other methods of preventing pregnancies are appropriate topics for sexual education
