Should Colleges Offer Both Merit And Award-Based Aid To Students

I believe that colleges should offer both merit and award based aid to students. Throughout my childhood, college was always a goal my parents wished for me to achieve. My parents paid for my school because they against me receiving student loans, knowing that I would pay back much more than I received. Colleges should mitigate the need for students to pursue loans and award scholarships on a more routine basis. Establish realistic standards and allow anyone to receive funding based on those standards. Colleges should partner with local companies and organizations to promote a college education and provide scholarships based on need or merit.

I am adamant against student loans myself because I have felt the ramifications of receiving them.
