Should Colleges Be Allowed To Make Community Service A Graduation Requirement

Some schools, like Wittenberg University, requires the students that attend to perform community service as a graduation requirement. In my opinion, I believe colleges should not be allowed to make community service a graduation requirement. I believe this because if you were a college student who works, where/when would you find the time to perform community service between working, studying and attending classes? Also, if student’s have to perform community service, it may interfere with their work/school schedule. However, when applying for employment, having community service on a resume would look better when an applicant is applying to work for an employer. If you were a full-time college student and an employee for someone, working as much as you can when you don’t have school, when/where would you find the time to perform community service? A perfect prime example is myself; I go to school 2 days a week, plus have an online class. The days I’m not in class or completing my online course, I am at work to make money to pay my way. As for me and myself, I can’t afford to miss even one day a week of work. I pay my own phone bill, I pay for my car, my gas, my insurance and my food. With only being able to work 4 days a week, I have to work as much as I can so I can save money, plus have money for the next 2 weeks, just like most college students have to do.
