With the moral standards of society and the continuous talk about stopping the violence Faculty, Staff and students should not carry guns on campus. Tennessee State University recently had a shooting on campus that left one person dead and two wounded. When an event such as this occurs, many people may argue that if students were allowed to carry guns on campus that they could have prevented this from happening. Others may argue that they should not carry guns on campus because as a college students this is a place where those from across the world comes to further their education. Faculty staffs and students should not have to carry a gun on campus to stop a person from doing dreadful things. Every college/university has a campus-based security that secures the campus to prevent tragic events from. Their mission is to “serve and protect” students. In case, security is in need of extra help the metro police department is located on campus as well. When it comes to the safety of the Faculty and students should not carry guns on campus because it will lead to more crimes on campus. It could also distract the …show more content…
An increase of crimes and suicided by college students. Anything could be physical or mentally wrong with someone which can lead to violent actions. Not only will this harm the students, but will affect and distract the learning environment. Student will more so be worried about someone doing harmfully things out of spite or for revenge the gun could accidently go off also. “There are about 150 college’s campus that allows concealed carrying, there have been three accidental/negligent discharges two by faculty/staff and one by a student:” (Common Arguments, 3).
