There has always been a debate whether or not people should go to college. One who does not further their education are less likely to succeed in my opinion. Education is a lifelong gaining of knowledge that keeps on growing. Everything that one learns in college will eventually be useful in one 's career field. It is perceived that college graduates will make more money and be successful in their lifetime. Although it may seem that college graduates are more successful in the long run, which they can be if they are motivated. It is however unfortunate that one can not use their intelligence from the street and put it to use in academic work. They might read magazines and focus on cars that are of this new generation, but that is because it is what they love. Reading Shakespeare or Hamlet does not interest them do to the fact that it is archaic. It is required in every school to read Shakespeare and break down every part of the book to turn it into modern english. That is what school is about though, it is about opening up one 's mind and learning new things. If one continually learns about the one thing they love forever, they might lose interest. What will one do once they are grown and never learned about anything else if that one hobby they loved did not turn out how they expected? College prepares ourselves for the future if one wants one. One who is street smart or “anti intellectual” should not focus on just one thing for the rest of their life. One should constantly be learning new things everyday. Schools do not try and purposely make certain subjects boring and make people hate it. They do this to open minds and just because one hates it, another one loves it and, vice versa. It is to give an understanding of how and why we learn these topics. Not every topic may be fun but they are worth it. Each new thing one learns is beneficial for one’s
