Would more adults be able to attend college if it was free? There is a majority of adults that do not go to college because of the continuing growing costs of college. If the fees are reduced, will this provide a chance for more adults to attend college? Do we want to have costs be the ultimate deciding factor of if we continue educating ourselves or not? Personally, I would not want this to be a deciding factor for myself, nor anyone I know. Why does education need to cost so much? How can adults go to college and get a degree to get a better job but cannot afford the cost of tuition. According to savingforcollege.com, the current average cost combined with two years at a community college and two years at a private college can cost $77,400. Over the next eighteen years, the cost is projected to reach up to $186,400 on average. This does not take account of the additional costs such as books, supplies, equipment, transportation, room and board (savingforcollege.com). These costs can be certainly high for the majority of people and would prove difficult to afford. Due to the costs of college, some adults must work full time jobs in order to pay for school. As a result, this can have bad effects on the student’s success. Students that work jobs and attend college tend to feel overwhelmed by having to balance the load of work and school together.
