Colleges and universities make substantial amount of money each year just from football players alone. Even though all athletes make money for their college I will remain on the topic of football for this paper. Football players can get hurt playing the sport just for the fans entertainment. Let's say a college football player gets hurt and needs to pay for medical bills. We need to pay college football players.
The universities and colleges make major amounts of money from the football players each year and most people don’t realize the amount of money made. People from all over the country come to watch them play. From each person they make about fifty dollars on the average for a ticket. Then you add the money from concessions and apparel. Colleges can make and do make so much money from fans. Why can’t players get even a little bit from the university. Players don’t even have enough to pay for their own dress clothes and shoes. If they get some money from the school they could do a little bit more with their life than just try to make money after football season for the next football season..

In nineteen eighty-six the international federation allowed professional athletes to play in the olympics. Maybe they did this because college athletes might considerably act as amateurs and might not do as good as they think. The federation said they made this rule to bring in more sponsors and to have more views on the television. But you never know if that might have just stood as a cover up so they could try to get better players in to get more gold

Due to the increasing popularity of college sports in the United States, individuals have begun to question whether college athletes should be paid like professionals. But college athletes are students and amateur players, meaning that college athletes are not given money to play a sport. Student-athletes attend college to get an education, not to be paid to play a sport. Already compensating athletes for playing are scholarships. Also, paying athletes would cause countless problems.…

Many Division 1 athletes can receive up to $60,000 multiyear scholarships and some Division 2 athletes can receive partial scholarships. They are getting these scholarships to help pay for an education because most of them can’t afford to go to a Division 1 or Division 2 school. Also these players are bringing in money for their schools by TV contracts, advertising, merchandising and ticket sales. The top men’s basketball and football teams can bring in about $140 million a year and by doing that, it can help them have those scholarships. Another reason I don’t think that college athletes should get paid, is because they are getting a free education…

Have you ever been watching a college sporting event on television and wondered how much the schools actually gain on having these sports? Well the answer to that question really is not that much. In 2010 the average net revenue of division one college football was 3.15 million, but 43 percent of the schools in division one had an average net revenue of 2.87 million in losses (Chua). This is because the schools that play in the bowl games end up spending more to play the football games then what they would make in the end. So after all the money is distributed over the college for paying the coaches and paying for equipment and other things in their sport programs there would be nothing left.…

What many fail to realize is that college athletes often stress over paying for daily necessities. Further compensation would elude some of the common stresses college athletes have on a daily basis such as buying food, paying for gas, and many other essential living needs. In addition, no matter how famous a player may be it is a violation of the rules for a player to profit from their fame. In fact college athletes can be fined for violating many strict rules or regulations.…

College is a place for further education and the students/ athletes should not have to worry about getting paid and even trying to pay every single athlete the same price for every single sport. College athletes provide entertainment for their school and millions of other people, but they are still not getting paid for their extreme work ethic, their commitment to their sport or school and most importantly, because of the amount of money they help the school to make. The NCAA makes billions of dollars each year because of the ability of their players to entertain a crowd. Even with all of this money coming in they still don’t have to pay their players. So essentially they have built a business system that generates billions each year off of the hard work of these players and they don’t have to pay them for it. Most…

Many people may or may not believe players are valuable enough to pay them. College players definitely do enough to get paid considering they are the reason most of the time that the team wins. Jared Walch went to the University of Utah and is a writer for USA Today and he writes how sometimes athletes deserve to be paid because of their contribution to their programs (Walch). Players choose to go to a school over other schools because they enjoy that school and want to see that team succeed not any other team, so they work hard to try and win games for their team. Jared Walch who is also a writer for the Daily Utah Chronicles writes on USA Today that performance does not guarantee a paycheck, so just because someone is good does not mean they should be paid big bucks (Walch).…

The debate of whether college athletes should, or shouldn’t be paid has been ongoing for years now. Many believe in the aspect of playing for the pure love of the game, while other seems to think that athlete having the opportunity to be paid would make a tremendous difference in society. Either way, both aspects would further make an impact on how student athletes go about their lives. Derek Fritz once said, “Sports have a certain romantic side to them, too often we got lost in the jumble of the world around us and forget the real reason why we’re playing the games we love so dearly.” The debate of whether college athletes should be paid has increased dramatically within the past decade.…
