A lot of people feel that they should get paid for the hard work they do, while others such as myself say that they should not be paid. College students should not get paid due to the fact that they are already getting paid on scholarships, it hurts the school, and it doesn’t further their education. Now not every single college athlete gets a full scholarship but a lot of them do. The average NCAA I division schools gives an average …show more content…
In NFL individual players are paid hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars to play the sport as a full time job. These players though, bring in millions of dollars due to ticket sales, merchandise, etc. College football, basketball, and others only bring in fractions of what their major league counterparts make. With the revenue that the major sports make, they are able to use that money to pay their players such high wages. Where as in the college they use that money to fund the school. For more expansion, better equipment, and other things that would benefit the school. If they had to start paying the college athletes on top of that, the schools would not have enough money to do all the expansions it needs in order to make the school …show more content…
Most people normally go to college so that they are able to get a well-paying job after school is over. What a lot of these college athletes end up doing is barley passing their class and concentrate on their sport in order to make it into the pro leagues. In the NFL only about 7% of eligible players get drafted into the league. Now the 93% of those eligible players are kind of out of luck. They now either have to go back to school and spend another 4 years or so getting their degree or drop out altogether. The students should not be going to college just play sports, it should be for their education, that’s what school is all about

69% of student athletes believe they should be compensated by universities for the amount of money they bring in. College athletes should not be paid because they are compensated for the time they put in through the athletic scholarship. Since they are amateurs, they can’t be paid extra on the side, and some athletes feel that they had a quality experience by being in college athletics. Ultimately, there are two sides to this argument. The question is, which side are you…
