Should College Athletes Be Paid?
Do you want to get paid to do what you love? I think that college athletes should get paid. People are always debating if college athletes should get paid or is they should have to make it to the big leagues. I have gotten some reasons why I think that they should get paid. According to CNNMoney most athletes are getting paid around $2,000 to $5,000 a year. Some schools have been seen giving students a few extra thousand more then that. My second reason is that it is their profession. People apply for a job they

Some may agree, and most of them make a compelling point as to why they shouldn’t. Some of these points are because the athletes get paid already in scholarships and specific aids. As Rebecca Zissou states in the article, “Fair Play: Should College Athletes Get Paid?” "Many top players receive tuition, books, tutoring, housing, meals, clothing, elite coaching, medical care, travel expenses, and career counseling. " What she fails to mention is that most of these things that the athletes receive only cover a small portion of the actual whole cost of living and learning, and being sheltered, and traveling; the list could go on.…

Should NCAA athletes be paid by Alexis molina I fully think that NCAA athletes should be paid for their effort on their college team. College athletics have gained immense popularity among Americans over the past few decades. This has resulted into increased in a lot of money for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the participating colleges, which has sparked the debate of whether college athletes should be given money beyond their athletic scholarships but I think they should get paid for the following reason they should be paid because without the players that risk injuries on the team the association would not make the money they do now and their coaches get paid but why not them and most importantly students after…

I believe that collegiate athletes should get payed for many different reasons. If college level athletes got payed they would most likely stay in school longer. Staying in school longer would led to more degree opportunities, which would equal more successful students and a higher success rate for the college. Students who aren’t athletes find time for jobs bringing in extra income, where athletes find it hard to make time for anything other than practicing and studying. If athletes in college were paid this would take a major financial burden of their backs, giving them having more time to focus on the studies and their abilities and not have to worry about how they are going to pay for their next meal.…

A main argument in Collegiate level sports is if the student athletes should receive pay or not. Former athletes may argue that a student playing a sport at a university should be paid; some spectators do not see pay for college athletes is a necessity needed. For some athletes tuition, room and board, and book expenses are covered through a full athletic scholarship, and these scholarships are still more than what academic students can receive (Block). What more could the athletes possibly want from the university? The athletes are being noticed throughout the whole country on Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) channels, isn’t the publicity enough plus earning a free college degree?…

College football players don’t need to be paid. There are around 85 players on a football team, and each player could see a paycheck of about $250,000 a year. College athletes are not professional athletes, and if they get paid they may not work hard to get to the NFL (National Football League). If college football players…

In my opinion, college athletes should not get paid. Although I agree how college athletes work more than most students and have to juggle between classwork, homework and their “full-time” job as an athlete, they voluntarily decided to join a sport. Athletes are putting their bodies, mind, and time on the line voluntarily, where no one is forcing them to participate. Claims have been made that athletes should be paid because they are performing, however, not every athlete gets injured. Depending on the sport, the injury and chances of injury can vary.…

My plan to compensate college athletes comes from the idea of stipends. I have two potential plans to pay players through stipends. As we have discovered, athletes are already shorted by their university $2000- $3000 a year because of attending university costs. But not even this projected amount covers other expenses like travel expenses, food expenses, and clothing expenses. Athletes, like other students, require the ability to travel to class or home, but because athletes are representing the school on the field, they don’t often get the same opportunities.…
