If the athletes were getting paid, then this would be considered as a job. With all that is going on, that would be the last thing that would need to happen. If this was considered a “job,” then they would have to meet a ton of requirements, which would cause a lot of pressure perhaps. Again, like it was mentioned before, they go to college to get a better education for their field and play sports also. They are not going to earn an income for playing college sports. In a job, you are required to work a certain amount of hours. As an employee you must work all the hours you are required and whatever else your boss wants you to do. First of all, in college sports, you are allowed a certain amount of hours you can do things athletically. In college, of course the education part comes first so that would make it hard to consider playing a sport as a job because it would be very hard to accumulate the hours that would need to be filled. They are not considered as employees. They are not professionals. Their title is something that should really clear the conversation up a little bit, student-athlete. Just the name gives you all you need to know. If you would want them to earn money, you would need to make them employees who work. But, they are not earning or getting any of those titles. They are students first, people who go to the classroom to learn, to get an understanding, an education to know and attain everything they need to know for the world that they will live in after
