People may also argue the fact that these student athletes can and probably will get hurt playing their sport and they should get paid. This is a terrible argument because the student is playing the sport at their own risk and they know this. Just because a student athlete gets injured is no reason to start paying them money. When the athlete takes the scholarship to play the sport they know that they are at risk of injury. If the athlete does get hurt it is not the colleges’ or the
NCAA’s responsibility to begin paying the athlete money.
Even though people argue that college athletes should get paid money it will most likely never happen because of many reasons. One main reason is that if college athletes begin getting paid this will destroy something that is an honorable quality of many athletes and it is that they play for the love of their sport. College athletes should not begin getting paid because this will make more people play because they want to have a payday. This would be terrible because people and students need to play because they love their sport and they want to continue playing it, not because they will get a paycheck for playing it.
Overall, college athletes should not get paid for playing their sport. They shouldn’t
