Should College Athletes Be Paid Essay

In my own opinion, I believe that college athletes should be paid. I can imagine myself as a college athlete; with daily routines that consists of getting up early for practice. After the morning practice, I have to go to school far away from where I live. What if I have been failing some of my classes? I have extra classes to attend, and after my tight schedule, juggling school work and my social life, I still have more practice which might likely end late. As an athlete, I have to follow this routine for the whole school year. Meanwhile, some of these athletes do not have scholarships to help pay for college, neither do they have free time to find a job. This can lead to an increasing amount of debt, because no income is coming in to pay …show more content…
The time that they dedicate to their various school sport are also their precious time they give to their schools. Nowadays, one the most controversial issues in all of college sports is whether should get paid or not. Still for now I learned that they are not getting paid yet, but many people are leaning towards paying them for supporting the college students and for fact of putting their life and health at risk; that alone signify their loyalty. The way things are, it looks as college athletes are considered amateurs which is one of scenarios why they are not being paid. College is a stepping-stone to the professional leagues; I believe that college sports should be considered professions as well Athletes deserve to be paid for their work. According to “Sports and Antitrust: Should College Students Be Paid to Play” they consider student athletes as big business. I presume sooner or later college athletes shall be considered to be paid for their time taken, and personal effort they put in to play for their various schools.
