Exotic Animals as Pets
It is believed that exotic animals live in American homes more than American zoos. Exotic animals kept as pets live with their human owners. Should citizens keep exotic animals as pets? Citizens should not keep exotic animals as pets because they do not make good companions, they are dangerous to the owners and community, and they carry many diseases.
One reason why exotic animals should not be kept as pets is because they do not make good companions. Exotic animals are very hard to care for. “Many exotic animals need special food, space to roam, and lots of attention” (Rainsford). Humans were not meant to take care of exotic animals, because people can not fulfill the needs these exotic animals must have. Between five

Exotic animals being wild will attack which is very dangerous for the owner or people surrounded. The behavior of exotic animals can be violent and hard to predict. Statistics have shown that there have been seventy-five deaths and incidents attributed to wild pets.“Their actions might be natural in the wild-but not in your home” (Rainsford). Exotic animals are hard to predict because they can never be completely domesticated. For instance, usually people are not supposed to or should not ride zebras because no one ever knows when these exotic animals could act out. Many attacks caused by exotic animals are usually from depression. With the animals being held captive it causes depression amongst the animal. Depression leads to vicious attacks. Some exotic animal pet owners do not meet the requirements these exotic animals need fully. Humans will not always show enough attention or have enough space to roam for the animal which in many occasions causes the animal to be upset. With the animal being upset, the animal will soon reach a point of depression which once again will lead to vicious or dangerous attacks.
