It is no doubt that smoking cigarettes is one of the nastiest legal habits to inquire. But, in Canada, smoking tobacco cigarettes has become a main element in some people's everyday lives due to the addictiveness of the nicotine. Cigarettes have taken many people's lives away and have hurt many families that have lost someone due to cigarettes. Cigarettes should be illegal in Canada. This is because they cause cancer, they are a gross habit and a huge waste of money, and they affect loved ones that surround smokers because of second hand smoke. To begin, Cigarettes are the main cause of lung cancer in Canada. On cigarette packaging it is shown that they can cause cancer, but does not state that it is one of the main causes and it seems that …show more content…
Second hand smoke affects many people in Canada, this is due to the people who smoke on a daily, but don't realize they're slowly killing the others around them. Second hand smoke is a not a huge concern to lung cancer, but it can cause it if one is around it daily or often. Also if a smoker were to smoke around and innocent person who is trying to stay away from smoking, it is a higher risk that they will accompany the habit and become addicted. On the other hand, smoking while impregnated is horrible and should be illegal because of the high risk of the baby having a disorder or possibly death. For these reasons, smoking in Canada should be illegal because its affect innocent people who try to stay away from smoking. It may still come to a surprise to many people that cigarettes are legal, but cannabis isnt. Considering that cigarettes are the main cause of cancer, they are highly addictive and costly, and they affect the loved ones that surround smokers. All of the statements and arguments presented argue that cigarettes should be illegal in Canada. Cigarettes are better off to be made illegal and to save lives than to be legal and kill a small portion of the population each
