Religion has been around since the beginning of time. Religion is defined as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a super human agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing moral code governing the conduct of human affairs (Dictionary.com). Even now, religious persecution is widespread around the world. However, the persecution of Christians is the highest of these. It is presently estimated that 300 million Christians are living in fear of persecution. It has becomes a regular occurrence in Iraq that half of the Christians have left. Although Christians are currently being persecution, in the last millennia, 200 million people have been killed because of their religion (Bannister, 2013). Many people from many countries from around the world come to America to seek shelter from religious persecution. These immigrants come from all different backgrounds, religion, and all have a story us Americans can’t imagine. America represents a safe house for many religions therefore, America should not make Christianity a national religion.
