More and more in today’s society you hear of parents rewarding their children with incentives for getting good grades or passing a standardized test. According to a survey coordinated by Great American Cookies, it reveals 94% of Americans bribe their children as a reward for them doing well in school. Financial incentives can be an ideal way to motivate younger children and teens, but it should only be awarded for the true achievement to the students who apply themselves. Does this actually help the student do well in school or on standardized tests? Do the students understand what message the parent is trying to send to them? A parent should not provide children with financial incentives because most of the time they are bribes and the child does not really deserve them. The parents should take the time and actually encourage their children to do the work without wanting financial rewards their reward should be their grade. Children should have realistic goals and not wait on a reward for every good thing that they accomplished. a parent should also let each child know that learning is worthwhile and understand that achievement is something to be proud of. Financial incentives affect each child differently and send them a message about how important and fundamental learning really is. In my personal opinion I think it is a very bad idea to offer a child a reward because it makes the child not know what learning really is when they are looking for a financial reward for every good grade they get. I think it's a must for every child to know what a good grade really means. All over the world people are bias about giving financial incentives for good grades.
