It is important to acknowledge that some skills require facts and figures to be learned, and that some people may think that the memorization of certain information is required to build a sturdy foundation for learning these 21st century skills. Our country is staying the same in educational quality while others are improving their quality of teaching (Enrique Zapatero, Sharad Maheshwari, Jim Chen). We should try our best to catch up with them by changing our schools so that they teach 21st century skills. The other countries that are ahead of our education level are mostly using active learning environments, so we should too and help our kids’ future. Although this supposed active learning environment seems like a good idea, some skeptics may think that it would be too hard to implement into our schools. However, turning our current classrooms into active learning environments would be simple.
