Should Child Soldiers Be Prosecuted For Their Crimes Essay

In war torn countries and in unstable governments militaries are recruiting children to fight for them.Children from ages 8-18 are being recruited to becoming military's little helpers. Children are impressionable, making them a good solders . They don’t disagree, don’t try to fight back, and they obey orders. They are easily brainwashed by violent videos, drugs, and traumatizing experiences, making them think violence is normal. They fight on fronts, do executions, and there is no reason for it. They are committing war crimes and are treated as victims once they are taking out of that war setting. But, they are criminals because, children are fighting to get revenge, they are committing more crimes because they will be most likely treated as victims, and they are not being punished till they become adults for …show more content…
That is another reason they should be prosecuted. Yes they are drugged, but your mind must give in to become so violent. According to “Should child soldiers be prosecuted for their crimes” they talk about how child soldiers that are only now getting punished for war crimes because they are adults now. Why not try them right away, right after they committed the crimes. While it may be true that trying them as adults is worse than being tried as a child but it is fresh in their mind. No matter what they still committed war crimes it should not matter the age.
Are child soldiers criminals or victims?. There are many sides to this question. Based on the evidence above child soldiers are criminals and should be prosecuted. We know this because children are fighting to get revenge, they are committing more crimes because they will be most likely treated as victims, and they are not being punished till they become adults for the terrible things they did as children.
