Should Child Soldiers Be Persecuted

Do you think a kid who thinks killing is ok and volunteeringly did it because they enjoyed it should not be persecuted? According to Alex Biermann a student of Black Hawk Middle School, he believes they should be persecuted for the crimes they chose to do. A big reason to choose persecution for these kids is if they chose to do kill why are we not doing anything about, according to the article ,“Should child soldiers be prosecuted for their crimes?” it states that, “Children are often desired as recruits because they can be easily intimidated and indoctrinated. They lack the mental maturity and judgment to express consent or to fully understand the implications of their actions… and are pushed by their commanders into perpetrating atrocities”(Analysis:¨ …show more content…
For this reason the ICC and SCSL focus strongly on those persons most responsible for human rights and IHL violations and apply the concept of command responsibility to political and military leaders, Coomaraswamy said” (Analysis:¨ 2014).So yes if we let these kids go then the officers will use more and more to where the crime rates of minors will rapidly grow.
Now, there are children that were brought into war forcefully and they didn't choose to be in war, one might say this is why we shouldn't prosecute them, but later in the war they will start to enjoy killing and want to kill so if the children are prosecuted then there are no chances taken if we give the children what they deserve. Child soldiers should not be given amnesty because of the crimes they have caused. If anyother person older than theses children committed these crimes they would go to jail for life Do you still think these children should be given forgiveness or do you want more people

I believe that child soldiers are victims forced to be perpetrators. I say this because they are taken into war against their will, but then they commit many horrendous acts of killing and slaughter, which fills the perpetrator definition of someone who commits a crime. Some child soldiers are taken by government off of camps and forced into war, and if they try to leave they are shot down. In this situation, the soldiers are forced into combat and should be granted amnesty, but I believe that overall, child soldiers should only be granted amnesty if the prosecutors are certain the decision to go to war for these young soldiers was not their own. On one hand, child soldiers are victims and deserve amnesty.…

They are blamed for the crimes they committed to others, but it should be taken into account how they were also the victims of these shameful events. They were succumbed to do these things with the thought that they were doing the right thing. The article states, ““Child soldiers should not be prosecuted on account of what they have done but should rather be rehabilitated and given a second chance to re enter society as a human beings”(IRIN). This is significant because it shows tells the idea of how child soldiers were not treated as human beings but rather as objects that the army uses at their own expense without a care in the world. Perhaps if we were to take a look into their world we would understand the frustrations of being a child soldier and not being able to help yourself or others.…

This helps illustrate the analysis that child soldiers should be granted amnesty because they are not able to as clearly discern what is right and what is wrong. Why this matters is that children, unlike adults, cannot tell that they are being taken advantage of and after they are brainwashed by their commanders they don't know what they are doing is a war crime. Some might say, however, that these child soldiers are choosing to volunteer for service and that is true to an extent, but as Ishmael Beah said, “ we were given a choice to leave or to fight, but everyone who left was killed.” So you see, these children really do have no choice whether to fight or to remain neutral among these…
