Have you ever wanted to bring your phone to school but weren't aloud? New York Public schools banned the use of cell phones in 2009 after complaints of distraction around the classroom. The school system recently lifted their rule after finding it can be helpful for educational benefits. That is why I think cell phones should be aloud in school.
One reason students should be aloud to have his or her phone in school is because after the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School most schools lifted their rule for banning cell phones but only in use of an emergency. These policy changes were driven by safety concerns of parents and teachers. Furthermore children depend on cellphones to communicate
