Images of breasts are everywhere. If there is no breastfeeding in public, but sexualized images of breasts are shown in public, the youth will grow up thinking that breasts are only sexual. This will make more women think it is not ok to breastfeed and make more men have the attitude of boobs are only for them. The only reason people think breastfeeding needs to be private is because we sexualize breasts. People say it is a natural and beautiful moment between a baby and mother, but it is not allowed to be done in public. How would you feel if your wife or sister was asked to leave because her feeding her child offended someone? In a society that says what we do is our choice and whatever we decide to is ok, why should a woman be told that breastfeeding is not ok? One argument against it could be for religious reasons. For example, the Muslim faith is against women showing their skin in public. Because of their religious beliefs, I could understand why they would be offended by a woman breastfeeding in public, to them it is not something that should be done in public. Another argument could be that some children are not breastfeed and have not been around it. The parents of those children may not want, or be comfortable with, their child being exposed to breastfeeding. That is an understandable reason, but just because they don’t want to see it doesn’t mean a woman should be asked to leave to feed her child. While indecency could be argued, there are many things that are allowed in public that other people may not want their children to see, so why should breastfeeding be treated
