Should Athletes Be Tested For Drug Use

Decent Essays
Should athletes be tested for drug use? I would totally agree with athletes being tested for drug use because athletes are motivators and inspirations to certain people. Athletes should at least be tested for all types of drug once a month, because athletes take advantage of drugs for different types of reasons.
Some athletes take performance enhancing drugs because they want to improve in ways that basic training and practicing won’t be able to accomplish. Of course steroids are banned for professional athletes to use cause of what the side effects and the performance enhancing do. Like the the gold medalist Marion jones was taking drug called TGH a drug that could not be detected. This drug wasn’t even supposed to be injected, a few drops

With the increase technology and the rise in modern medicine other ideas have been brought about letting athletes use steroids, but have them be supervised. Mitton again talks about “if steroids effectively enhance performance, what is wrong with allowing athletes to take advantage of modern medicine and pharmacology?
