Swish!!!!! There's another bucket from Lebron James, who is the highest paid athlete and who also makes 71 million dollars a year. Professional athletes take time away from their lives. They deserve to have high salaries. They take time away from their families and their everyday lives. Some athletes put their lives on the line. Just for our entertainment, but we as fan repay them by packing the stands, by cheering for them, by supporting them through every win and every lost. Athletes like LeBron James make the NBA log for some people if it wasn't for NBA players there wouldn't be any NBA reporters, trainers, or even coaches. Superstar players like Jordan or Joe Montana make sports the thing that makes a person's day; they put their lives on the line for our enjoyment. For example, Paul George broke his leg during the 2015 Olympics. The doctor told him that he wouldn't be able …show more content…
Some salaries are ridiculous. The president of the United States…….the leader of the free world doesn’t even make anywhere close to 71 million. So, I can see why some people complain about Athlete's paychecks. If I were to make $6,750 dollars in 50 minutes I might as well retire at 15 yrs old. I agree and disagree with how athletes are paid. Now I know this has nothing to do with athletes, but Danielle Bregoli aka the cash me outside girl makes makes 40k for one meet and greet. She has no respect for no one not even her own mother who raised her but, she makes more money than some rookies and all she said was six words which became the biggest meme in the world. She shows no love to her fans or family. She is ungrateful and disrespectful. “You were nothing till I came on this show” she told Doctor Phil. Now that is just plain rude and uncalled for. There was no point on saying that. It was just her being the brat she is. Anyway, athletes like to be around their fans.Well, some of them

Imagine you are a hardworking doctor or lawyer, and you aren't getting paid the amount you should be. Other people like you who are bettering our community aren't getting paid the amount they should be, and all of your tax money is going towards paying for athletic stadiums. Doctors, teachers, government employees, police officers, firefighters, and lawyers should be receiving the money that athletes receive. Professional athletes provide entertainment for society, but I believe they receive an unreasonable salary. Overall, athletes are overpaid because all they are doing is playing a game to entertain while other more important professions are making much less, they don't contribute to society, there are better places to use the money, and the money received could be used to pay for more useful causes that would benefit our society.…

There are people that argue that college athletes are paid enough by the scholarships that they acquire to the big Universities. They are worth according to Jeffery Dorfman author of “Pay College Athletes? They’re Already Paid Up To $125,000 Per Year” he argues that “a student athlete at a major conference school on full scholarship is likely receiving a package of education, room, board, and coaching/training worth between $50,000 and $125,000 per year depending on their sport and whether they attend a public or private university” (Dorfman). People don’t believe that there should be money going into these athletes pockets because they are on scholarships and that should be enough.…

I am personally a collegiate athlete and knows what an athlete goes through. Players shouldn’t get paid millions of dollars like professional athletes, because why would players go on to try and play professionally. On the contrary they should deserve some type of revenue whether it's for clothes shopping, take someone out on a date, gas money, etc. For example that’s the same thing as me asking my friend to do something for me and he does all the work while I sit back and relax.…

Athletes getting paid to play has been discussed for long time now. College athletes feel as if they should be played to play since they are bringing in millions of dollars to the university. Some college athletes feel like they should be getting paid because they are the reason that the university is making millions of dollars, but the university doesn’t feel like they should pay them because they gave them a scholarship that covers the athlete’s tuition, housing and other things too through the whole four years they stay. That’s good and all, but how are the athletes going to get money for other things such as hanging out with friends. Some colleges don’t even let their athletes get jobs.…

With coaches making upwards of $7 million dollars a year and television ratings for its game coverage skyrocketing, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has had its fair share of good times in the 21st century. The association has also had its worst times as well, “the NCAA has never been more vulnerable and on the defensive with regards to it policies and practices, especially its reliance on the age-old characterization of college athletes as “amateurs” who are first and foremost “student-athletes” and the limits its members have collectively imposed on the remuneration these players receive” (Sanderson 115). Plain and simple, the NCAA does not want to dish out money to players to compensate for their play time. The NCAA views the athlete only as that amateur and not as an employee of the association.…

Many of the critics of college athletics have the viewpoint that many college athletes, especially the large market athletes, are being “used” in a sense to bring in immense amounts of money towards the institutions, but in no way are the athletes reimbursed for the profit they helped to bring into the university. Another valid argument that agrees that college athletes should be paid is the “big business” side of collegiate athletics (Sanderson). College sports have a market that rivals that of professional sports, with multi billion-dollar revenue, all from athletes that will never see any of that profit. With the massive amount of profit what these institutions are doing could also be seen as a form of “abuse”, colleges are taking advantage of the talent that these players naturally have and have worked for, in the process these Universities are making hundreds of millions off of these athletes. The top tier basketball and football programs in the country make well over a million dollars of revenue ever season (Finnegan),…
