With that kind of money we could help those in need of homes, those with medical expenses they cannot afford. Almost every day someone in the military leaves their family to protect their country knowing there life is being put in danger, and they may never return home, still not even making half of what a professional athlete makes. Teaching is more economically important, because our future economy relies on the modern youth. Yet they are not even paying a quarter of a professional athlete's salary. For example, each basket Kobe Bryant scores are equivalent to the average yearly salary a teacher makes. The president is the most important man, he makes decisions every day that can affect people in critical ways, and he only makes four hundred thousand a year.
Athletes and Movie stars entertain the general public. If these careers were eliminated, there would be no affect on the economy. I think people like soldiers, doctors and teachers, deserve more than athletes, because they contribute to our society. It would be better to spend excess money on education, or in the medical field.
