Should Athletes Be Allowed In Australia

A big issue in sports today within Australia is that professional sports people are skipping University to focus on playing within their sport that they have professionalised in. For some of these athletes their dreams can be crushed from either injury or not being good enough. The result of this is that they drop out of this sport. When they then go to find a different job, they find it very hard because they haven’t had the proper education to uphold a decent job. Along with this they will be going very hard financially because the job that they end up with won’t be the best financially wise.

Athletes should be able to make their own decisions and control their own future in their sporting career. For some people, University is very challenging whilst trying to continue their sporting career at the same time. University can double the amount of workload put on the athlete. More good outcomes that could come from this method is that they will have the experience and high intensity feeling that will be coming with the professional league. But the biggest success that will come from this method is that they will have a qualification in something so that after the sporting career ends they will then have some decent jobs to try and take on.
Although there is this big debate on whether athletes should be able to go straight to professional out of school, there are some professional leagues that take athletes straight out of high school, the one professional league that does this is the MLB over in America. The MLB do not recognise if the athlete has gone to College (their version of University) or not, there is a big problem with this because as explained above, if the player isn’t good enough, they will not have any job to fall back
