Students come to school to learn, not to develop brand loyalties or lust products they honestly don't need. Companies pay schools to have their ad's and logos on their school. Why? They need to capture an audience so they can take advantages from. In schools, children have no choice but to walk to their classes and having to walk passed these advertisements. Our students are the captive audience. As a matter of fact, most of the ad's our children mostly see ad's about food and beverages that can make them have a unhealthy diet. Like most schools are sponsored by Pepsi and maybe even some fast food restaurant in their city. All these types of food and beverages ad's can be on scoreboards, team posters, and sometimes maybe even the school sign. …show more content…
If most of our papers had the ads on bottom of it, students will think about that product and loose focus from test and homework. An average child sees about 40,000 TV commercials each year. Also ad's are becoming to be on new textbooks and materials to lure the child into the product. Large banners of company ad's catch the viewers eyes and distract them from a learning experience. The children do spent a lot of time in schools like the students in our state spent 181 days and spend 6.24 hours inside a classroom, so it makes it difficult to escape exposure to ad's. In 12,000 middle, junior,and senior schools in the United States make it required to watch channel 1, which is a daily news channel that's been accompanied by commercial ad's. Channel 1 was created to capture the youth market, it supplies schools with "free" equipment like tv's but the show is 12 minutes long and has 2 minutes of commercials. This way of getting things for school distracts the students from what they are being taught for example, 10th graders are being taught about world history, a recent article studied about 303 student who see the broadcast and 216 who haven't , about half did not know about the cuban missile
