The environment is a huge factor that affects our health. By breathing the air around, people are taking in air that is not clean and affecting their lungs. If an individual avoids consuming animal meat, then the demand for it will decrease. Since there is an absence of demand in animal meat, factories will decrease their production of meat and therefore cause less pollution to be released into the air. In 2006 , the United Nations reported that producing more animals for our consumption increases the amount of greenhouse emissions (Top 10 reasons why it’s green to go veggie). If humans began to turn more to a vegan diet than to a meat one, then it would greatly decrease the amount of greenhouse emissions in the world. Another study made in the UK, it was proven that “changing from a nonvegetarian to a vegan diet estimated to reduce greenhouse emissions by 26%” (Mangels, 2013, para. 8). This is a significant amount of reduction that can immensely help the environment. Also, it takes a lot of water to produce meat. It is estimated that for 1 kilo of beef it takes 1,000-2,000 liters of water. Considering water is scarce in this world, then that is a huge number wasted on eating animals. Not only would turning vegan help the people living on this earth, but also the animals. This gives all living organisms a cleaner environment to live and breathe in. Overall, becoming vegan helps out the environment in many
