Did you know that if you kill a pregnant woman it is double homicide? Then, why is abortion not considered murder? Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks (7 months) of pregnancy. Abortion is unethical. Fetuses are estimated to have a heartbeat about 5 weeks after it has been conceived. So, abortion is as ethical as killing a living human being after that time frame. Abortion was legalized in the U.S in 1973. An estimated 984,000 abortions took place in 2013. Twenty-one percent of all U.S. pregnancies (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion. Mississippi had the lowest abortion rate in 2011, and New York had the highest. There were approximately 17.5 births for every abortion in Mississippi and approximately 2.3 births for every abortion in New York. Some people say that abortion helps people that have no chance of giving a baby a good childhood, but why did they just not have sex, that solves that problem. This is probably more easily said than done. Abortion should be illegal in my opinion because it denies babies their constitutionally protected right to life. When the United States became an Independent Nation the Founding Fathers declared ‘All men are created equal…with certain unalienable Rights…Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
