Abortion is stigmatized, but so are teenage mothers. Abortion is not something women undertake lightly - it is a stressful process, particularly in many US states, where a woman is legally required to attend a Crisis Pregnancy Centre before she can go to an abortion clinic. At CPCs the staff are often trained to talk the woman out of an abortion, to tell her abortion is a sin - she will go to Hell. There are more than twice as many CPCs in America as there are abortion clinics, which shows that it’s not just a few people that consider it acceptable to emotionally manipulate unhappy pregnant women, but a widespread belief. In fact, even if the woman does manage to get to an abortion clinic, the guilt-tripping doesn’t stop there.
