An auto dialing system means “equipment which has the capacity to store or produce telephone numbers to be called, using a random or sequential number generator; and to dial such numbers” (FCC). Technically, it is a computer that will call your number and place the next representatives available to speak with you. You might hear the message, “please hold for the next available representative to speak with” before getting put on hold for something like a credit card payment. However, an autodialer system would call your phone and as soon as it is answered you would get the same message and then a dial tone would shoot to some person who would have your information displayed on their monitor just from having your phone number.
