In Cultural Background the word παιδαγωγός is the word that was studied and it means a tutor or a guardian of boys as they went place such as school. Among the Greeks and the Romans the name was applied to trustworthy slaves who were charged with the duty of supervising the life and morals of boys belonging to the better class. The boys were not allowed so much as to step out of the house without them before arriving at the age of manhood. The use of guardian to refer to the Law would have been move of a shook to the audience than it is to us today because a guardian was slave set in charge of the protection of a child of a richer class (Keener). This would make the slave lesser than the child. Which since the Jews were set on the Law being their teacher then they would not have reviewed the news that the Law was a guardian too well. In addition to that the guardian would protect the child while getting from point A to point B (Browser). So the point of the Law was to get the children of a wealthy person from point A to point B.

Verse 25: “But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian” (NET). This shows us how humans we hold on to things that YHWH wants to replace with something better. Yet as humans we like it to be our way so we hold on to the Law. Verse 29: “And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise” (NET). We are naturally a blessing to all those around us if we are apart of the body of Christ. Since we are heirs of the promise then we will be able to be a blessing to all, “so that you will be a blessing” (Gen 12:2b,

Wednesday, pgs 105-110: The question was answered to who crucified Jesus and why, but there is one more question that is more spiritual… What was the meaning to all of it? God, of course, could have stopped Jesus from being killed, and so Jesus could have if he proclaimed himself as the Son of God. There is a deeper meaning to Jesus’ Passion and death- he did it for humanity! He died on the suffered and died on the cross so that humanity could be saved from the horrors of death.…

The book “The Messiah: Revealed, Rejected, Received” by William Varner explains to us what a messiah is and why we even need a messiah.. The book shows that when the Jews wanted God to send them down someone they were not satisfied with what God had in store for them. Lastly we see who the messiah God sent is, and how that after most people walked away from the Lord, some were still choosing to follow. As this book goes into great detail addressing all those topics I just mentioned, the overall theme is showing us what a messiah is and what the importance of one is from the point of view of a believer, while still being aware of the Jews believed.…

This whole chapter was very interesting. I was kind of saddened in a way to read about so many ways to self destruct. I believe that in this part of the world (the west) we have low standards about how to love our selves, how to love our bodies and to treat our bodies like a temple. In our text book on page 301 there is a table (10-3) that shows the risks and consequences of drug misuse. Regardless of the type of drug that is being abused and or misused there are plenty of consequences and damage to the body.…

“Retard- delay or hold back in terms of progress, development, or accomplishment.” This word is used way to often to describe a person who is not mentally or physically handicapped. I used to tell people “you’re a retard” or “you’re retarded” when I was younger and didn’t understand what this word meant. The older I got the more brutal and hurtful I realised this word was. Elementary School (5-6) When I entered the 5th grade I saw no reason to see why this year would be any different from all other years, aside from the fact that I would be closer to Junior High and have to accomplish more challenging work. The year progressed uneventfully and I found myself being decently content with what I had. However, it seemed that I was missing something; I was doing fine in all my classes but I did not really have any motivation. In the last month of school, the Band Department from the high school visited to show us students how to play instruments and to decide if we wanted to enroll in a summer band program.…
