My business will be a Vape Shop and it will be a sole proprietorship as I will be the sole owner of my small business. A sole proprietorship is also known as a sole trader or a proprietorship. It is a solitary owner or independent business where the proprietor pays individual income tax on all proceeds that are earned from the business. It is the easiest business to establish or cease because there is little government regulation. Sole proprietors typically do business under their own personal names since ascertaining a unconnected commercial name is not essential. A sole trader has no separation between the business entity and its owner. The business owner is not safe from liabilities incurred by the entity. My long-term goal is to have multiple successful vape shops. To accomplish this, I will start with my original shop, then my website, then I will open a second shop.

My pricing tactic would be to use psychological pricing and discounts. Psychological pricing strategy is commonly used by marketers in the prices they establish for their products. It's a minor distinction that can make a big difference. Setting prices according to the psychographics of the aimed-at market segment. Psychological pricing is a pricing tactic that takes advantage of the fact that consumers do not always respond rationally to stated prices. Discounts are a subtraction from the face value of a bill that is made before payment is given. Discounts are a price reduction offered as an incentive to purchase. I would not use price lining or odd-even pricing. Price lining is setting a limited number of prices for certain categories of products. LIT1 Task A SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP: • LIABILITY – The owner and the business are considered as one and so the owner has unlimited liability for the business. Therefore the all of the owner’s personal assets, the business’s assets and the business’s future earnings may be at risk. • INCOME TAXES – All income for the business goes on the owner’s personal income tax returns whether federal, state or local. One advantage of the sole proprietorship is that the business is not a separate entity and therefore is only taxed once on this income, and another advantage is that all business liabilities may be written off as expenses to offset income. I chose to observe Shick’s Tobacco Shoppe because out of the nineteen years of my life living in Clarion County, not once have I stepped into this place. I never even heard about this shoppe until about a year ago when all the kids in my high school started vaping. I have vaped from my friends or at parties, but I don’t own one myself so I had no reason to go. When observing, I found that while there is a sitting area, most people would just come, purchase what they need and then leave. The ones that did stay were mainly what seemed to be high school boys.…

The advanced pricing technique that would be most appropriate for a Sam’s Club or Costco would be second degree price discrimination. Second degree price discrimination is defined by Thomas and Maurice (2010, p. 583) as, “When a firm offers lower prices for larger quantities and lets buyers self-select the price they pay by choosing how much to buy.” Therefore, when the same consumer buys more than one unit of a good or service at a time the marginal value placed on consuming additional units declines as more units are consumed (Thomas & Maurice 2010). In addition, second degree price discrimination reduces the average price as the amount purchased increases.…

The numbers speak for themselves as everyday 1,300 people die from smoking alone. As a new market rises for vaping being a substitute, as does the controversy. Vaping is a positive alternative to smoking because it is less expensive, safer, and has fewer health risks for both the individual vaping and second hand inhalers.…
