They both are able to recall and remember more trivial information rather than the important things. I have often wondered why this was. Often my sister will recall something that has occurred 20 years ago and want more information about it, or she will want to know if we still have the book about..... that we read when we were young - 25 years ago. I still don't understand why she could remember all these things, but not remember more current, important information. Maybe she had an experience that took her back to that time when.......?
I don't remember playing lots of memory games as a child. I do remember playing picture lotto where all the pictures up facing down and you have to find the ones on your board. As a child I do remember being quite good at it, but if I were to play the game again, I do not think I would be able to remember where all the pieces are.
Memory games are often used when working with young children. I often start with five objects and as they develop the skills and "get quite good at it", I then increase the amount of objects. As I am reflecting on this, i am realising that I have not been playing these games as much. The day is full of routines and events, often these things get forgotten about.
Over the years the children have loved playing memory tray games, surprise bags, noise/shape guessing games as well as memory using pictures. This is something that I should do more
