The most common and frequent idea presented in the movie is the flashbulb memory. This is when a person can remember a specific event and be able to visualize exactly what happened. Joy and the other emotions constantly bring up certain memories like when Riley’s mom asks about a family trip that they had and wants to know what was Riley’s favorite part of that trip. The emotions bring up the time the car rolled back into the dinosaur replica and they all laughed about it. Riley was able to clearly remember every detail. This is only one of the many times that the emotions in Riley’s head bring up past events and demonstrate what flashbulb memory is. The next three topics are also portrayed correctly and give an accurate demonstration of how they really work. It all starts with the process of forgetting. To forget something means that some of the information that is entered into the long-term memory is lost. It is usually information that is not used on a day-to-day basis or is not important anymore.
