• One of my short-term goals included returning to working out at Planet Fitness. This not only helped strengthen my knees, it overall made me feel better about myself.
• Limiting the number of races that I registered for next season, not only saved me some money, it allowed me to be more selective on which races I preferred.
• Using the SMART program continues to help improve my overall health.
2. How did you implement your plan and specific objectives into your daily life/routine?
• I have included my wife in my daily changes to my routine.

What barriers did you encounter during this journal time, and how did you overcome or attempt to overcome them?
• One of the biggest barriers that I encountered was my lack of acceptance of change. People do not always like change, but deep down I know that I needed to make a personal change if I wanted to continue running.
• Too fast of a running pace: I realized that I was running out of gas towards the end of the race. Now I run holding my iPhone and watching my pace time. This not only helped with my endurance level, it also helped improve my finishing time.
4. How could you have improved your plan?
• There is always room for improvement, but I am impressed with the way I was able to accept change. Although a change that I will include in the future is listening to my body before the pain starts. Preventive maintenance is a priority now.
5. What new short-term goals do you have for yourself?
• As for setting new short-term goals, the latest one would be to never return to the unhappy runner that I was.
• Not only receive support from other runners but continue to show my support towards other runners.
