Short-Term Educational Goal

One of my primary, short-term educational goals is to complete my Bachelors of Science in Communications degree with the emphasis in mass media and broadcasting. Completing my studies within the shortest timeframe possible will afford me the opportunity to save both time and finances, as well as pursue my second short-term aspiration of obtaining my Master of Science in Human Services degree with the emphasis on family and community services from Kaplan University. I have operated in the capacity of a pastor and community leader, coupled with my occupation in the field of behavioral health for over 15 years and it has exposed me to some very unique cultures and environments. This combination of hands on experience exposed me to situations; such as but no limited to, uninhibited living conditions, dysfunctional family dynamics, abusive conditions ranging from mild to unthinkable and unheard of customs people have adopted as a way of living. My involvement in their lives lead me to want to be more efficient in my role of engagement concerning their reality so in 2009, I challenged myself to seek ways to …show more content…
However, in the area of my occupation I was faced with an unexpected dilemma. Upon receiving several contingent job offers from government agencies. I was informed the school in which I completed my studies accreditation was not recognized by the Higher Learning Education Accreditation Council. Therefore, I could only obtain employment as a mental health provider within private agencies that recognized my schools accreditation. I was devastated as I knew I would eventually be limited in my choices of employment
