Respected child psychologist John Stamos was once quoted as saying,”Putting yourself into something is the only way to achieve your goals, those who recite useless information will stand by and let life go by them.” I agree with Stamos. He is saying that if one is willing to put themselves into something long term the result will be much better. A person who puts their all into their long term goal in this case a project much more will result from that than simply putting information in short term memory and taking a test. Websters School of Facts recently took a survey of all schools using the long term project form of teaching and found that these school’s students have a seventy five percent higher retention rating than normal schools. This fact shows how correct Mr.Stamos is. …show more content…

Working the phone lines at the crisis center, I received a call from a 40 year old adult. They provided me with information about the crisis they are facing at this moment which includes an impending divorce mostly because the spouse was unemployed for extended periods of time, as well as concern over the ability to meet the demands of bills in addition to overwhelming job demands. Additionally, her goal of continuing education had to be put on hold. There is concern over the children’s anger towards the other parent as well as a lack of motivation with school work. In addition, the children are upset because they cannot participate in activities with their friends as before.…

In my past I have not being the most self-disciplined person; however, it is my goal to self-discipline myself to become organized. A few actions that I decided to take to help me steadily reach my goal are to put things away right then instead of saving it for later and forgetting to do so, to write down everything before I forget, and to make copies of things like homework sheets that have to be turned in or important papers that have to be kept. The one action that I decided to do for the 32-day commitment was to make a to do list meaning that every day I have something to do I write in on my list and check each item off as it gets done. I think the most challenging part about doing this 32-day commitment will be not wanting to write things…

Should Cursive still be Taught In Schools People might think it is out dated for cursive to still be taught in school, as technology is taking over the world. Yes technology is everywhere, but we still need to know the basics of writing before we can be able to construct a proper sentence or paragroph, hence the reason why it is so important and essential for it to still be taught in school. Firstly, its good when students dont have to depend on the computer to auto correct them. If they should make a mistake they will know exactly how to fix it, because when in exams they might be required to do it without the computer and without it they may not know if they are doing it correctly which will causes them to fail.…

I already knew the difficulty in raising a child, it is not an easy task at all because how your raise your child affects how the child is going to be as an adult. Your choices matter and weigh very heavy when raising a child and its not as simple as making a choice or picking an answer, you have to consider in the long run how it will affect the future. However I still gained a lot of knowledge and sort of experience from this course and completeing each assignment raising my child which I named Hunter. What I really liked about this assignment were the real life situations that were thrown at me each week like my partner losing their job, getting a divorse or having second child, all made each choice harder and requiring me to think about my choice choosing which option I think would be best due to my knowledge. Having a virtual life assignment along with each weeks module gave me more knowledge into the inner workings of a persons development so I can choose a better option for raising my child in the lab.…

The “shut down your screen week” proposal is a wise decision. Multiple schools rely on many technology based programs to notify students about their assignments that are due. While people heavily depend on technology to do their homework, we also need to learn how to organize ourselves without technology. Although having one week of school without technology might waste a lot of paper, it won’t last very long and we learn very important skills that we will need later in our lives. There are many reasons why schools should have “shut down your screen week.…

There is no substitute for activities in a classroom that require your hands. (Cleaver). Ideas like this show just how important these activities are, especially for a student’s cognitive learning. A classroom must be focused on interactive activities rather than having an over reliance on testing. The best way students get the most out of what they are being taught is by actually doing what they learn and applying it accordingly.…

A good teacher is someone who motivates their students to do the best they can, and to be independent thinkers. A student who is an independent thinker not only acknowledges the teachers lessons, but finds additional information outside of class.
