I agree that Google is making us stupid, however; I also feel that it has contributed to our society being lazy and not taking the time to sit and read actual hardback books, newspapers, and magazines. Society has become so dependent on using technology to google for the latest news and for downloading electronic books and magazines. Google is also used by high school students and college students when it comes to conducting research and completing homework. By using Google so much my generation has lost sight of what it means to actually walk away from a computer and relax to read a good hardback book, a newspaper or a magazine.

This tends to make us lazy and prevents a person from actually visiting a library to actually read books for researching information. We are so dependent on using technology to help us figure things out that we lose sight of using our brain for critical thinking. Using technology to Google everything changes how we learn and process things in our brain which can lead to a person not being able to focus and use critical thinking skills. They now have computers and tablets to utilize for Googling. Kids are starting out really young and learning to Google things on the internet which appears to be making them more knowledgeable and smarter in maneuvering throughout the internet. Although children start using the internet at a younger age, they tend to have a lot more skills and knowledge in social media, how to gather information, and basic visual learning skills compared to older adults. “According to a study by Internet security software giant, AVG, by the time children reach the age of 2, 90% of them have an online history” (www.whoishostingthis.com).
Another way that Googling is making us more knowledgeable and lazy all in one is to be able to study online and earn a college degree from home. By being able to take college courses online benefits the busy student who works part-time or full-time and wants to continue their education. Knowledge can now be obtained by any individual at any time regardless of time and needs. They will never have to feel too old or too busy to learn something new. Online students can utilize using actual books for their online classes or electronic books that can only be opened electronically
