Of the 49 participants, all but one owned a phone. With those phones used it to communicate for a total of 5.63 hours a day. This compares to 3.7 hours of face-to-face communication. Many of these people are also unaware of the effect that these devices have on their social life. The last chart also shows the types of conversations people have, and what means of communication they use. It does give me some hope to see that a majority of people used face-to-face for a serious conversation. Although I do still believe that too many people use phones for serious conversation far too much. The worst thing someone could do it to end a relationship via text or talk about a sensitive topic. This will only get worse though. People will only use technology like this more and more, to a point where you may talk to someone for years without ever actually seeing them, in cases that already happens today. People are more ignorant about technology today than
