The Dragon Egg
The rain seems never stop, the sky out side is always overcast. Dark clouds above the city never dispersed like a giant cover after the war begin. There are no one on the street, the walls of the house topple down on the road, and a wreckage of tank is still burning in the square, around the square is the crater of the bomb. The bombs make the hole city in a dead silent. But in the basement of one house, there is still shimmer through the door. A boy, Parker just weak up because of the noise comes out from the radio. His brother, Sam is holding a big, yellow egg.
“Did you here that, the radio says there are safe place in the North.”Sam point a place in the North.
“No. That is impossible for us to cross the channel, Sam. We have been there yesterday,

“You must kidding me”says Parker, “ The dragons are not real, they are myth. What I see you are holding is our dinner.”
“No! They are real. The book says the dragons are living in the sea, and they lay eggs on the beach. I had seen it before in the sea, many people also says they have seen the dragon before, and there are many pictures...”
“Ok, if this is really a Dragon’s egg, why you keep it?” As Parker asking, he is trying to find some food in the refrigerator.
“This is our key to across the channel. You see, this egg is going to hatch. When the Dragon comes out, it will call its mother. So, if we keep this egg and take it to the beach, and wait for the egg hatch, the dragon giant will come out and protect its baby.”
“So, what next?” Parker dose not rise his head up when he asks, he is now trying to open an orange can.
“The giant dragon will scare away all the patrol boat and attract the attention of the rebel forces. That moment is our chance to cross the channel!” Sam says it in a great self-confidence.
