The past is the past for a reason. That is where it is supposed to stay. Although many are unable to let go of it, and it eats them away over time. Has it changed their personality? The great traumatic event has negative effects towards the family's wellbeing. The impact was greatly dealt with the lady of the Brennan family. Tom's mother has not been able to forget the accident and move on. It is impossible to change what has already happened, therefore the individual must move on in order to achieve happiness. You are unknown to the future, although the past can be just as bewildering. Kyle is often seen as a person who gazes into the future and does not agonise the past. Although Tom was sensitive to such a topic, he would not be affected by it in his everyday life. Is the bond between siblings weaker then a mother and son bond? This blandly depends on the individual and their personal behaviour. Once you have built this attachment, it becomes a habit for you. Your day begins to rely on how the other person feels along with your feelings.‘Tell someone who cares, Tom!' says Kyle. (p. 15) These 2 siblings have accomplished a point in which they are still able to obtain happiness whilst their brother is facing a 5 year sentence in jail, even though Kylie shows no sympathy towards Daniel, she still somewhere has love for him. Has he learnt his lesson? The fact that he is in jail was due to his own stupidity, risking his own life along with others was an unacceptable crime. ‘And God forgive Daniel.’ (p. 5) Accepting the fact that Daniel has performed an action which has affected the lives of others in a negative manner, his grandma forgives him instead of providing him with a blessing. As much as Daniel wishes he could change what happened that night, he couldn't. Will he be able to achieve happiness? Can he recover after unintentionally killing a friend and putting another in a wheelchair? Tom,’ he swallowed. ‘I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry you had to leave the Billi. I’m so, so sorry.’ (p. 139) In this quote, Daniel shows strong signs of realisation and regret for what he had done, the emotional and soft side of him has finally come forth.

Daniels stay in the jail may help in altering his mindset and improvising value of life. It is not necessary that it forms a setback in his life and overcoming again becomes a chaos. While the siblings have moved ahead in their respective lives, it's there little help which could encourage their mother to how life can be relived as bygones should be bygones. Altering the past may not be an option, each individual is required to overcome such stages. Some successfully find their pasts out of the maze, while others get lost and examine their inner
