There was a single knock. Larsen looked up and watched as Pattis strode in. Everyone thought that Pattis was a servant of some sort. He would normally enter carrying tea or a pressed shirt or something that indicated a personal matter with the guildmaster. That he was the deadly Blade of the Guildmaster was a secret known only to two people, and they were both in the room.
The wiry Blade walked in with his hands behind his back. Larsen tried to read his face. Was Pattis successful? Was the information he found going to provide a new path forward? As always, however, Pattis’ face was unreadable.
Placing his hands on the desk, Larsen nodded as Pattis sat down. “I trust you didn’t leave any stones unturned?”
“No.”
Larsen smiled. He liked Pattis’ demeanor—always to the point. “Good. So what did you find?”

He worked himself up from the silos and has an excellent reputation among the guild members. But when the Upper Triangle captaincy came open, he was overlooked. He wants to be appreciated by way of comfort and luxury.”
“Good.” Larsen considered his plan. It was daring. He wanted to drive the Harvest guild members out of the Flats and the Lower Triangle and into the Wretched Quarter. They would learn that there was only one guild that would provide them with the homes they lost… the Merchant Guild. And Larsen would welcome them back if they agreed to join his guild.
However, he would not be able to do it without the help of key members of the Harvest Guild stopping outright guild war. “What of the Lower Triangle?”
“The Captain there is very loyal to Polo and also very popular.” Pattis shrugged. “I can take care of him like I did

To improve their conditions, one thing they did was form Unions of farmers working together for change. There were four Unions; the Grange, The Farmer’s Alliance, The Southern Alliance and The Colored Farmers Alliance. The Grange planned to combat the farmer’s problems by providing the farmers with a social outlet and an educational association. The Farmer’s Alliance was mostly concerned with interest rates. Farmers were borrowing money from banks because they needed money, but they could not pay the money back because of the high interest rates.…

Both productions of cotton and diamonds, have brought in soldiers to make the production more efficient bringing tension and fear to the workers. At the mines, there are not a lot of government regulations or even control since it was so easy for anyone to buy diamonds off diggers: “The diggers sold the diamonds to government-licensed buying agents or to various hustlers, smugglers and loan sharks who stood around the mines wearing poker faces, ready to deal” (IP 118). Because of this it has made the rich richer and the poor remain poor. With these kinds of control, the poor remain blanketed on why they remain so poor and continue following the companies who buy their materials. Before Tidwell’s influence on breaking rules with the cottonseeds, the villagers never thought about rebelling and protesting the price of cotton prices.…

What I think is meant by “Cotton Culture” is an exclusive, hospitable group of farmers that prestigiously operated a large acreage of land, to make profit for themselves and their tenants. Before the Civil War, the South became very self sufficient in sharecropping; gaining for profit and obtaining free labor. Plantation owners would travel from one state to another visiting friends and showing hospitality with their profits by way of southern cooking, music and like formal parties. I can imagine these elites would go back and forward about how much more fruitful the next farmers land was going to be in July or bragging on his strongest working slave. Cotton Culture aristocrats lived a very high profile life stye.…
