many little adventures life brought to my family, I grew to learn exactly what it meant. One such

adventure, began on a warm spring morning in early March. I was fourteen at the time, you know, that

young, annoying, and awkward age when you aren’t sure whether you should “be cool” or just go

home from school and watch Arthur. “Brrrriiinnnggg! Brrrriiinnnggg!” My alarm clock screamed “Its

his hands up in the air and gave up. “Nothing will stop you, will it?” He joked, “Nothing.” She nodded in agreement.

“Goooood morning!” mom hissed in my ear. Instantly I rolled over, trying to avoid the horrors

of leaving my wonderful boat of dreams. Then! It hit me like a lightning bolt! Today! It is today! “We are

leaving TODAY!!” I cried out. Out of the bed I flew, quickly changed and ready to get into the car to drive

to the airport. Whereas my parents were slowly getting ready, claiming we “had time”. Dad caught me

as I was hurrying around the house. “Slow down honey! We aren’t leaving for another fifteen minutes!”

“Fifteen! Can’t we just leaving now? We have everything! And Kari is ready even!” My little sister gazed

up at dad as if confirming what I had said. “Why don’t you get in the car with Kari, and we’ll be right out,

hmm?” He nudged me toward the door, so I picked up my three year old

When I had first heard about Dunes through youth group at Good Shepherd, I thought it would be a fun three day trip to the beach with a bunch of my good friends. Little did I know, I would learn many new things that really inspired me and persuaded me to grow in ways I never thought I was capable of. Not only were these three days at the beach a very fun time with my friends, it was somewhat very emotional as well. I learned so many new things about my peers and watched their relationship with God grow. I can confidently say that without Dunes, I wouldn't be the person I am today, and I am extremely thankful that I went and had the time of my life.…

After flinging my school bag onto my back in an angry manner, i left my empty casing of a family home slamming the door behind me. Usually at this point I would walk the family gremlin to school because sadly we went to the same one, but the daily argument happened 20 minutes before scheduled so she wasn't even ready yet, luckily. I was now in my element. Music on, world off. I went along the same route, passing all the same oak trees, taking all the right roads as per normal.…

Before it gets good, it gets more boring. Summer had started and it’s been a year since I’ve been to college.…
