Short Story: Ruby Falls Haunted Caverns

Improved Essays
It was a frigid Halloween evening, and we were standing in line for the Ruby Falls Haunted Caverns. There were people standing in front of us, behind us, and beside us because of the way the line was setup. Most people stayed in their own groups, huddled together for warmth. The line was right beside the road/parking lot where cars kept searching for spots to park in. To the right of us was a rocky face leading to a dark, concealed forest. Hunter and I sat on a rock about halfway there.
Hunter was sitting beside me and we were both working on a paper. Cooper, the largest in the group, towering a whole head above the tallest one of us, came up and sat beside us. Dawson called him back to ask him something about the Caverns. He was quiet, unless

Charlotte revealed that they had met on tinder, which was a problem in itself because she was 16 and the tall man looked, at least, 24. She thought she heard them say that they were going to go back to his truck to smoke weed. I looked at the kids standing in line behind us, snot dripping from their nose, wondering if they understood what was happening. Less than a minute after she told us what their plans were, Cooper, Hunter, Charlotte, and I left to go find them. We left Dawson and Ford to hold our spot in the line, but also because they were too scared to come look. I felt someone grab my shoulders and I asked Jesus for repentance. I don't know why because I'm not Christian but I did nonetheless. All of a sudden, Kyle was there with his massive hat and he made the fifth member of our group. The way the parking lot was setup, there was a long row on either side of the road where cars could park and then, if one were to take a right, it kept going until it curves back around to meet with the main road. However, if one were to go left, it leads to a sinister gravel path that leads even further into the forest. We all figured she was in the creepier area. Cooper and I took the left side of the parking lot and Kyle and Hunter took the right side. We were all trying to inconspicuously look in trucks, but it's a rather difficult task to achieve. Charlotte was calling and texting her the whole time, yet with our combined efforts,

Ponyboy was really the first person I could express my opinions to and the first person I could really talk to about how I feel about this stupid social division we have to go by. Even though he doesn’t really understand how we Socs have problems too, I can see that he at least sort of understands- not completely, but just a little… Knowing that he sort of understands is a mixed feeling of relief and just a bit of an absurd feeling as well, I mean, a Soc and a greaser actually having a nice conversation.. I didn’t expect him to actually understand at all, but I also didn’t expect him to be completely ignorant about it either. “Cherry, look what’s coming,” Marcia quickly addressed. I watched the blue Mustang as it was coming down the street.…

Over summer I went with some friends to the Johnson Shut-ins in Missouri. It was the first time I went camping in years and it was one of the coolest trips I’ve ever been on. It started with the drive which was about two and a half hours through isolated roads which eventually got kind of creepy because we were in the middle of nowhere, every house had confederate flags posted, and we were running out of gas. We finally found the place and found our campground and we wanted to find out what the shut-ins were exactly. It was on the other side of the campground…

Baseball Baseball has always been one of my favorite sports, and it will always be the longest sport I’ve played. A total of 9 years in Khoury league and 2 years in high school, so all in all I have been playing this sport almost all my life. I started baseball with the Red Bud T-ball team, the team had a count of 15 people including me and excluding the coaches. Those 15 kids playing on that team became some of my bestest friends and greatest teammates to have. Most of them ended up being with me until we couldn't play khoury league anymore, and then only about 3 or 5 of them played school ball with me.…
