Tommy, frightened, looked at the door. His heart was pounding. Tommy was sure he had seen the doorknob turn. Frozen, Tommy watched the door open revealing his grandpa. Gus-Gus and Annie didn 't run away they continued to try and play with Tommy and their swords, but Tommy was too afraid to play anymore. Once Gus-Gus and Annie recognized who grandpa was, they rushed over and started hugging him. "We 're so glad you 're back!" they said together. Grandpa bent down and gently hugged the little mice, but Tommy just stood staring at the three of them confusion written all over his face. Grandpa told the mice that he and Tommy needed to leave now, and then grandpa took Tommy 's hand and led him back through the door. All of them went grocery shopping and the day continued as usual. Tommy did not know what to think or do. Was it all a dream? Maybe it didn’t happen? Later that night grandpa came in as usual to read a bedtime story. Before Grandpa could even start reading, Tommy broke down crying. His grandpa looked at him and asked him what was wrong.
