Around 1,200,000 jewish children were deported and murdered.
Most who survived were sent into hiding.
Isaac lived in a six story apartment building on 60, in a neighborhood filled with jewish immigrants.
Isaac's papa had to go to the police station to register as jews once Germany Invaded France.
Isaac dreamed about the police breaking down his front door and dragging his mama and papa away leaving him behind.
On June 22, 1940 France is divided into two zones. The Germans control the northern part of the country.
Isacc left his apartment to take a 3 hour subway ride. Most of the families were all jewish, heading to the same place.
Isaac’s mom bought yellow stars ( the Star of David), which they were required to wear on the streets.
Jews Rules: They were not allowed to own businesses. Jews were not allowed to shop for food until five o’clock in the evening.

Isaac and his mom, hid in papa’s shop, and the German Soldiers never knew about it.
They had neighbors, who brought them food.
There neighbor's name was Sara and she was married to a Christian. She was not in danger of becoming arrested then.
They went down a dirt road with a guide. The guide waved his hands to isaac as 2 German Soldiers were in front of them, one on a bike, and the other holding a dog on a leash.
