The Earliest Heroes Prometheus had given fire to men and had been bound to a rock peek on Causcasus. Io came across him and spoke to him about who he was. Prometheus recognized her and told her his name which she knew of him. They were able to talk easily to each other. Io told him that Zeus was the reason she changed from a princess to a beast. Zeus’s wife, Hera, had been jealous when she realized Zeus was in love with Io. To punish Io, Hera gave her to Argus who changed Io into a beast. Zeus went to his son, Hermes and asked him to kill Argus which he did. Zeus hope this would end Io’s misery, but Hera sent a gad-fly to plague her. The gad-fly chased her. Prometheus could only point her to her future which was Io would reach the Nile where Zeus would touch her and turn her back into human. Odysseus got shipwrecked after fighting the Trojan War. They went into the cave. Polyphemus surprised them and questioned as to why they were in his home. He felt angered and ate some of the men. The men who were able to get away hid from him and planned for a way to escape. If men dared to kill him, they would be imprisoned in the cave for life because of the rock blocking the opening to the cave and only Polyphemus has the strength to move it. One day, Odysseus and the men stabbed the Cyclops in the eye. Now that he was blind in one eye, the survivors hid under the Cyclops’s flock which he let outside of the cave. He loved a sea nymph, Galatea who played him. He sang mournful love songs to her and she ended up loving him also, but then Galatea fell in love with a prince named Acis.
