She asked in a small soft voice, “The town is short of money, and we were wondering if you could help us buy a turkey?” Agnes laughed, and said “y'all never invite me to anything. Y'all think I'm an old hag with lots of money. Why should I give y'all anything?” Sally looked at the old woman, and sighed. She said “I guess we just assumed you never wanted to come, and that you were a mean old woman who was greedy. Agnes replied saying “you, and the town aren't the only one’s in the wrong. I thought y'all were rude, and never wanted to talk to me.” So after the long talk Agnes, and Sally walked to the town hall. Ms.Agnes gave the community the money for the turkey. A couple days later the whole community including Ms.Agnes got together, and ate their Thanksgiving feast. After that Ms.Agnes was more involved in the community, and the town invited her to all the events. The moral of the story was don't judge a book by it’s cover. The town, and old lady Agnes judged each other by outside appearance without getting to know each other. In the end old lady Agnes, and the town became great
